Updating of a hydrogen furnace
In order to guarantee a reliable level of performance and to increase flexibility, an important player in the petrochemical industry in eastern Montreal needed to redesign its emergency stop system (ESD) controls for a hydrogen furnace.
The changeout of these relays was critical and could only be performed during the five-year maintenance stoppage, so the Systemex Automation team deployed a solution based on redundant ControlLogix processors. The new equipment was mounted onto plates which could be quickly inserted into the existing panels during the stoppage. Even so, all logic was thoroughly tested in advance.
When the furnace was stopped our teams ensured a constant follow up on the installation and proceeded to the start up of the new system, ensuring its integration into the factory's process control network. A reduced team ensured a presence during the factory's restart in order to be able to react in the case of unforeseen circumstances. The client was thus able to restart its process successfully and on time.
